General Information

Hunting Season and Climate
The Hunting Season is from February until November. Since Namibia is a semi-desert, thunder showers only occur during February, and March, with odd showers at the beginning of April. May is considered to be the most beautiful month, the temperatures during day and night are mild. June, July and August are our winter months, the early mornings and late evenings are very cold, sometimes at night the temperatures drop below freezing point. The days are mild and during August we experience some windy days. September and October are springtime, the climate is mild reaching high afternoon temperatures during November. Since our country is bordered by two deserts, we have never had any reports of malaria in our region. Bugs occur during the raining season, during the other months very few bugs and no mosquitoes occur in our area.
Rifles and Ammunition
Most our clients bring their own rifle. Bring a rifle that you are most comfortable with, as well as a good pair of binoculars. A heavier caliber is recommended for the larger animals. We have a 30.06 as well as a .375 available, if you do not wish to bring you own rifle along. To speed up the documentation process upon your arrival, have a document at hand that states proof of ownership and lists all inscriptions. You will be issued a temporary import permit at customs upon your arrival. No handguns are allowed into Namibia Up to 100 rounds of ammunition are allowed, but only for the rifle you are bringing along. Bowhunting is available, a good number of waterholes are furnished with blinds for the avid bow hunter.
