Nur ein kurzes Update, um euch mitzuteilen, dass meine Trophäen beim Präparator angekommen sind. Jedes Stück war korrekt und in hervorragendem Zustand. Nachdem ich so viele Horrorgeschichten über den Rücktransport von Trophäen in die USA gehört und gelesen hatte, war ich sehr besorgt. Aber dank eurer harten Arbeit hat alles perfekt geklappt. Es war eine Reise, über die meine beiden Freunde und ich zum ersten Mal vor vielen Jahren gesprochen hatten. Eine afrikanische Safari stand definitiv auf unserer Bucket-List, doch sie wurde über zwei Jahrzehnte lang „auf Eis gelegt“. Ich hatte lange nicht mehr daran gedacht, bis mein Freund Hoke mir erzählte, dass er im Januar 2011 die Convention des Safari Club International in Las Vegas besuchen wollte. In den folgenden zwölf Monaten prüften wir mehrere Safari-Anbieter in verschiedenen Ländern. Südafrika, Sambia, Simbabwe und Botswana kamen in Betracht, doch es wurde schnell klar, dass Namibia das richtige Ziel war. Namibia hatte eine stabile Regierung, Malaria war kaum verbreitet, es gab keine Tsetsefliegen und keine Schlafkrankheit. Die Jagdreviere im nördlichen Zentralnamibia beherbergten große Bestände an Flachlandwild sowie Elefanten, Nashörner, Flusspferde, Leoparden, Geparden und Löwen. Hinzu kam, dass das von uns ins Auge gefasste Revier im Okonjati-Gebiet offenes Gelände ist und somit „Fair-Chase“-Jagd ermöglicht – anders als in Südafrika, wo ein Großteil der Jagd in kleinen eingezäunten Arealen mit auf Farmen aufgezogenen Tieren stattfindet. Jan Oelofse Safaris war die offensichtliche Wahl. Wir buchten unsere Jagd im März 2012 für Juni 2014. Es würde Winter in Namibia sein, mit Temperaturen von knapp über 0 °C nachts bis etwa 21 °C tagsüber – perfektes Jagdwetter.

Die Anreise nach Namibia sollte der schwierige Teil werden. Unsere erste Wahl war ein Flug mit American Airlines von Charlotte nach Frankfurt und von dort mit Air Namibia direkt nach Windhoek, der Hauptstadt Namibias. Wir mussten auf Plan „B“ umsteigen, als uns Berichte erreichten, wonach deutsche Behörden es US-Bürgern erschwerten, Schusswaffen über Frankfurt aufzugeben. Unsere neue Reiseroute führte uns zum Flughafen JFK in New York, dann in einem 14-stündigen Flug mit South African Airways nach Johannesburg und schließlich in zwei Stunden nach Namibia. Rudie de Klerk, einer unserer Jagdführer, holte uns am Flughafen ab und fuhr uns zur Lodge – eine „kurze“ Fahrt von vier Stunden, die letzten 40 Kilometer über Schotterpisten und Feldwege. In der Dämmerung, etwa sechs Kilometer vor der Lodge, passierten wir ein Wasserloch, an dem vier weiße Nashörner ästen – ein großartiger Auftakt zum Okonjati-Wildreservat. Wir erreichten die Jagdlodge am Sonntag, dem 8. Juni, um 18:00 Uhr, 32 Stunden nach unserer Abreise. Die Lodge war eine Oase inmitten von 180.000 Acres voller afrikanischer Wildtiere. Ein Festmahl aus Blesbock-Stroganoff und Springbock-Filet erwartete uns bei der Ankunft. Wir aßen uns satt – und fielen dann ins Bett!

Unsere Jagd begann erst am Dienstag, sodass wir am Montag bis 8 Uhr schlafen konnten. Steve Tors, unser anderer Berufsjäger (PH), gesellte sich zum Frühstück zu uns. Steve war eine Persönlichkeit von überlebensgroßem Format, aufgewachsen in Los Angeles. Sein Vater war der Film- und Fernsehproduzent Ivan Tors. Ivan war ein Freund von Jan Oelofse, und kurz nach dem Highschool-Abschluss zog Steve 1976 nach Namibia, um für Jan zu arbeiten und Berufsjäger zu werden. Wie es auf der Website der Oelofses heißt: „Steve war ein wahrer Mann der afrikanischen Wildnis.“ Nach dem Frühstück fuhren wir zum Schießstand, um unsere Gewehre zu überprüfen. Wenn eine hohe Trophäengebühr auf dem Spiel steht, will man ein perfekt eingeschossenes Zielfernrohr. Den Rest des Tages verbrachten wir mit einer Erkundungstour in unseren URI-Jagdfahrzeugen – maßgefertigten offenen Pick-ups im „Jeep-Stil“, gebaut für raues Gelände. Wir sahen Flachlandwild in allen Varianten, vom häufigen Springbock und Impala bis zur seltenen Pferde- und Rappenantilope, dazu Streifengnus, Weißschwanzgnus, Zebras, Giraffen, Blesböcke, Kuhantilopen, Nyalas, Wasserböcke, Elenantilopen, Paviane und das allgegenwärtige Warzenschwein. Den Kudu – Nummer eins auf unserer Trophäenliste – sollten wir erst später in der Woche zu Gesicht bekommen, als wir ihn in den höheren Bergregionen bejagten, wo er vorkommt. Bei der Rückkehr zur Lodge in der Dämmerung trafen wir uns an der Bar zum „Sundowner“ und anschließend zu einem Abendessen mit Elandsteak.

In den folgenden zehn Tagen standen wir um 5:30 Uhr auf (um 4:30 Uhr bei der Kudujagd), frühstückten und brachen dann zur täglichen Jagd auf. Meistens kehrten wir zum Mittagessen zur Lodge zurück, manchmal aßen wir aber auch im Feld. Das Mittagessen umfasste – wie das Abendessen – einen Hauptgang mit Antilopenfleisch, Salat, köstlichen Beilagen und stets einem besonderen Dessert … ziemlich gutes Essen in der Wildnis. Wenn wir nach einem zwölfstündigen Tag im Feld in der Dämmerung zur Lodge zurückkamen, waren wir bereit für einen Sundowner oder zwei vor dem Abendessen.

Jan Oelofse Safaris nimmt maximal sechs Jäger pro zehntägigem Jagdzeitraum auf. Bei unserer Ankunft war nur ein einziger Jäger in der Lodge, dem noch zwei Tage seiner Jagd blieben. Die nächste Jägergruppe traf erst gegen Ende unserer Jagd ein, sodass meine beiden Freunde und ich das gesamte Gebiet acht Tage lang für uns allein hatten. Am Ende der Jagd hatte jeder von uns die Antilopen seiner „Bucket-List“ erlegt – und mehr. Jedes erlegte Tier lag über dem Durchschnitt, einige Trophäen waren außergewöhnlich und erreichten genug Punkte für das Rekordbuch des Safari Club International.

Die zwei Wochen vergingen viel zu schnell, und der Tag der Abreise kam. Am Samstag, dem 21. Juni, standen wir um 5 Uhr (Mitternacht EST) zu einem frühen Frühstück auf. Vierzig Stunden später war ich zu Hause – darunter ein 19-stündiger Flug von Johannesburg nach Washington Dulles mit einem Tankstopp in Dakar, Senegal. Ein Ratschlag: Wer eine Afrikareise plant, sollte einen Flug mit Zwischenstopp in Dakar meiden.

Einige abschließende Gedanken zu meiner Safari: Mir ist durchaus bewusst, dass manche Menschen die Jagd auf Wildtiere für falsch halten und glauben, Jäger trügen zum Rückgang der Tierbestände weltweit bei. Nichts könnte weiter von der Wahrheit entfernt sein. Jagdreviere wie das von Jan Oelofse sorgen durch bewirtschaftete Jagden sowie Lebendfang und Umsiedlung dafür, dass die Bestände afrikanischer Wildtiere erhalten bleiben. In Kenia wurde die Trophäenjagd 1977 verboten, und die Tierbestände des Landes sind seither um 70 Prozent zurückgegangen. Note: We invited retiree John Dixon to recount highlights from his recent Africa adventure - a long-awaited dream come true.

It was a trip that my two friends and I had first discussed many years ago. An African Safari was definitely on our bucket list, but it would be put “on hold” for over two decades. I had not given it much thought for that long period until my friend Hoke told me he was planning to attend the Safari Club International Convention in Las Vegas in January 2011. Over the next 12 months, several safari groups operating in different countries were evaluated. South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana were considered, but it became apparent that the place to go was Namibia. Namibia had a stable government, malaria was not prevalent, no tsetse flies and no sleeping sickness. The hunting reserves in north-central Namibia had large populations of plains game plus elephant, rhino, hippo, leopard, cheetah and lion. In addition, the reserve we were considering in the Okonjati area was open range, allowing for “fair-chase” hunting, as opposed to South Africa where much of the hunting is within small fenced areas containing ranch-raised animals. Jan Oelofse Safaris was the obvious choice. We booked our hunt in March of 2012 for June 2014. It would be winter in Namibia, with temperatures ranging from the low 30s at night to a high of 70 during the day-- perfect weather for hunting.

Getting to Namibia would be the hard part. Our first choice was to fly American Airlines from Charlotte to Frankfurt, Germany, and then fly Air Namibia direct to Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. We had to change to plan “B” when we received reports that German officials were making it difficult for U.S. citizens to check firearms through Frankfurt. Our new travel plans required us to fly to JFK airport in New York, then a 14- hour flight on South African Airlines to Johannesburg, South Africa, and finally two hours to Namibia. Rudie de Klerk, one of our hunting guides, met us at the airport to drive us to the lodge, a “brief” four-hour trip, the last 25 miles on dirt roads and trails. At dusk and about four miles from the lodge, we passed a water hole where four white rhinos were grazing... a great introduction to the Okonjati game reserve. We arrived at the hunting lodge at 6:00 p.m. Sunday June 8th, 32 hours after departure. The lodge was an oasis in the middle of 180,000 acres teaming with African wildlife. A feast of Blesbuck stroganoff and Springbuck tenderloin was waiting when we arrived. We ate our fill and then crashed!

Our hunt did not start until Tuesday so we got to sleep until 8 a.m. Monday. Steve Tors our other professional hunter (PH) joined us for breakfast. Steve was a larger than life character who grew up in Los Angeles. His father was the movie and television producer, Ivan Tors. Ivan was a friend of Jan Oelofse and shortly after high school in 1976, Steve moved to Namibia to work for Jan and become a professional hunter. As described on the Oelofse website “Steve was a true man of the African wild.” After breakfast we headed out to the shooting range to check our rifles. When a large trophy fee is on the line, you want your scope zeroed on target. The rest of the day we spent touring the area in our URI hunting vehicles-- custom-built open-cab “jeep-like” pick-ups designed for handling the rough trails. We saw plains game of every variety, from the common Springbuck and Impala to the rare Roan and Sable antelope, plus Blue Wildebeest, Black Wildebeest, Zebra, Giraffe, Blesbuck, Hartebeest, Nyala, Waterbuck, Eland, Baboon and the ever-present Warthog. We would not see Kudu (number one on our trophy list) until we hunted them later that week in the higher mountain areas where they range. Returning to the lodge at dusk we met in the bar for a “sundowner” and then a dinner of Eland steak.

For the next 10 days we would rise at 5:30 a.m. (4:30 a.m. when hunting Kudu) for breakfast and then head out for the daily hunt. Most days we would return to the lodge for lunch but sometimes we would lunch in the field. Lunch, like dinner, would include an entree’ of antelope with salad and delicious side dishes and always a special dessert... pretty nice eating in the wild. Returning to the lodge at dusk, after a 12-hour day in the field, we were ready for a sundowner or two before dinner.

Jan Oelofse Safaris can accommodate a maximum of six hunters per 10-day hunting period. When we arrived, there was only one hunter at the lodge with two days to complete his hunt. The next group of hunters would not arrive until the end of our hunt, so for the other eight days my two friends and I had the entire area to ourselves. At the end of the hunt, we each had taken the antelope on our “bucket list” and more. Each animal taken was above average, with some trophies exceptional, scoring enough to qualify for the Safari Club International Record Book.

The two weeks passed much too quickly and the day came for departure. We arose for an early breakfast at 5 a.m. (midnight EST) on Saturday, June 21. Forty hours later, which included a 19-hour flight from Johannesburg to Washington Dulles with a fuel stopover in Dakar Senegal, I would arrive home. One piece of advice–if you plan a trip to Africa, I would advise against a flight that had a stop in Dakar.

Some final thoughts on my safari: I am well aware that some people believe the hunting of wild animals is wrong, and hunters are contributing to the decline of animal populations around the world. Nothing could be further from the truth. Hunting reserves like Jan Oelofse are ensuring that populations of African wildlife are sustained through managed hunts and live capture and relocation. Trophy hunting was banned in Kenya in 1977, and animal populations in that country have dropped 70 percent. In a country where a large percentage of the population is impoverished and with unemployment greater than 20 percent, the benefits cannot be overstated.

Rudie de Klerk, az egyik vadászvezetőnk várt minket a repülőtéren, és elvitt a lodge-ba – egy „rövid”, négyórás úton, amelynek utolsó 40 kilométere földúton és ösvényeken vezetett. Érkezésünkkor blesbok-stroganoff és springbok-bélszín lakomája várt. Jóllaktunk, majd ágyba zuhantunk!

A vadászatunk csak kedden kezdődött, így hétfőn reggel 8-ig aludhattunk. Steve Tors, a másik hivatásos vadászunk (PH) csatlakozott hozzánk a reggelinél. Steve rendkívüli egyéniség volt, aki Los Angelesben nőtt fel. Édesapja Ivan Tors film- és televíziós producer volt. Ivan Jan Oelofse barátja volt, és Steve nem sokkal az érettségi után, 1976-ban Namíbiába költözött, hogy Jannak dolgozzon és hivatásos vadász legyen. Ahogy az Oelofse-weboldalon olvasható: „Steve az afrikai vadon igazi embere volt.” Reggeli után kimentünk a lőtérre, hogy beállítsuk a fegyvereinket. Amikor magas trófeadíj a tét, az ember azt szeretné, hogy a céltávcső pontosan a helyén legyen. A nap hátralévő részét a terület bejárásával töltöttük URI vadászjárműveinken – ezek egyedi építésű, nyitott utasterű, „dzsipszerű” pickupok, amelyeket a rögös ösvényekhez terveztek. Mindenféle síksági vadat láttunk, a gyakori springboktól és impalától a ritka lóantilopig és fekete lóantilopig, valamint kék gnút, fekete gnút, zebrát, zsiráfot, blesbokot, hartebeestet, nyalát, vízibakot, elandot, páviánt és a mindenütt jelen lévő varacskos disznót. A kudut – a trófealistánk első helyezettjét – csak később, a héten láttuk, amikor a magasabb hegyvidéki területeken vadásztunk rá, ahol él. Alkonyatkor a lodge-ba visszatérve a bárban találkoztunk egy „sundownerre”, majd elandsteak-vacsora következett.

A következő tíz napban reggel fél 6-kor keltünk (kudura vadászva fél 5-kor), megreggeliztünk, majd elindultunk a napi vadászatra. A legtöbb napon visszatértünk a lodge-ba ebédelni, de néha a terepen ebédeltünk. Az ebéd – akárcsak a vacsora – antilophúsból készült fogásból, salátából és finom körfetekből állt, és mindig volt egy különleges desszert is... egészen jó koszt a vadonban. Alkonyatkor, egy tizenkét órás terepnap után a lodge-ba visszatérve készen álltunk egy-két sundownerre a vacsora előtt.

A Jan Oelofse Safaris tíznapos vadászidőszakonként legfeljebb hat vadászt tud fogadni. Amikor megérkeztünk, mindössze egy vadász volt a lodge-ban, akinek két napja maradt a vadászata befejezéséig. A következő vadászcsoport csak a mi vadászatunk végén érkezett, így a fennmaradó nyolc napban két barátommal együtt az egész terület a miénk volt. A vadászat végére mindannyian elejtettük a „bakancslistánkon” szereplő antilopokat, sőt annál többet is. Minden elejtett állat átlagon felüli volt, néhány trófea pedig kivételes, elég pontot érve ahhoz, hogy bekerüljön a Safari Club International rekordkönyvébe.

A két hét sokkal gyorsabban telt, mint szerettük volna, és eljött az indulás napja. Június 21-én, szombaton hajnali 5-kor (keleti idő szerint éjfélkor) keltünk egy korai reggelihez. Negyven órával később értem haza – ebbe beletartozott egy 19 órás repülőút Johannesburgból a Washington Dulles repülőtérre, egy tankolási céllal beiktatott megállóval a szenegáli Dakarban. Egy tanács: ha afrikai utazást tervez, javaslom, hogy kerülje a Dakarban megálló járatokat.

Néhány záró gondolat a szafarimról: jól tudom, hogy egyesek szerint a vadállatok vadászata helytelen, és hogy a vadászok hozzájárulnak az állatpopulációk világméretű csökkenéséhez. Semmi sem állhatna távolabb az igazságtól. Az olyan vadászrezervátumok, mint a Jan Oelofse, épp azt biztosítják, hogy az afrikai vadállomány fennmaradjon – irányított vadászatok, valamint élő befogás és áttelepítés révén. Kenyában 1977-ben betiltották a trófeavadászatot, és az ország állatpopulációi azóta 70 százalékkal csökkentek. A springbokomat is bepontoztattam az SCI rekordkönyvébe. Az SCI értékelője szerint nagyjából a világ 9. legnagyobb példánya, amire nagyon büszke vagyok. Naftali találta meg nekem az állatot, és a Jan Oelofse Hunting Safarisnál ejtettük el. Szinte minden nap eszembe jut a vadászat, és az is, mennyire izgatott volt Naftali, amikor megmérte a szarvakat. Most már értem, miért volt olyan lelkes!

I also had my springbok scored for the SCI record book. According to the SCI scorer it is about the 9th largest in the world which I am very proud to say Naftali was able to find the animal for me and took at Jan Oelofse Hunting Safaris. I think about the hunt almost every day and also how excited Naftali was when he measured it's horns. I now realize why he was so excited!

Mein Springbock wurde für das SCI-Rekordbuch bewertet. Laut dem SCI-Bewerter ist er etwa der neuntgrößte der Welt – worauf ich sehr stolz bin. Naftali hat das Tier für mich gefunden und wir haben es bei Jan Oelofse Hunting Safaris erlegt. Ich denke fast jeden Tag an die Jagd und daran, wie begeistert Naftali war, als er die Hörner maß. Jetzt verstehe ich, warum er so aufgeregt war!

Csak egy gyors e-mailt szerettem volna küldeni, hogy üdvözöljem önöket. Maile-lel együtt szerettük volna újra elmondani, milyen csodálatos időt töltöttünk a gyönyörű farmjukon! Szavakkal el sem lehet kellőképpen mondani, milyen élmény volt a családjukkal. Bár a vadászat kivételes volt, a szállás, az étel és különösen a barátságuk tette namíbiai látogatásunkat olyanná, amelyet örökre a szívünkbe zárunk.

Just wanted to drop you guys a quick email to say hello. We also wanted to tell you, once more, how wonderful a time Maile and I had at your beautiful farm! Words cannot begin to adequately describe our experience with your family. Although the hunting was exceptional - the lodging, food, and especially your friendship made our visit to Namibia one we will cherish forever.

Obwohl die Jagd außergewöhnlich war – Unterkunft, Essen und vor allem eure Freundschaft machten unseren Besuch in Namibia zu einem Erlebnis, das wir für immer in Ehren halten werden.

Like our other clients who hunted with you this year, Chuck Hoffer gave his hunt a rating of A+. He said that his hunting experience and saty at Jan Oelofse was the "finest" and that he and Janice enjoyed every minute of it. Also, he he gave very high praise for his PH (I think it was Rudie) and sais that he is the best.

I went hunting to Namibia with Jan last October after some rather specialized trophies that I got in very good quality. Besides, I saw many more in both rare and common species, some of them really good quality trophies.

Namibia is a beautiful country, as advanced or more than South Africa, however the bush is still almost virgin. There are some very interesting tribes, as the “Obaimbas”.

The “camp” I was in, is doubtless the best I have been in Africa, it can compare with any European hunting lodge. My guide was Steve Tors, very knowledge and kind person. However, everyone else in the staff is first class.

On the negative side, I made the mistake to arrive to Windhoek via South Africa and we were missing my wife´s bag for some days. Next time, I will go via Frankfurt on Namibian Airways. Don’t miss the Victoria Falls, you need to go to Livingstone in Zambia or to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. In both towns are excellent SPAs by the edge of the falls.

Ich war letzten Oktober mit Jan in Namibia auf der Jagd nach einigen besonderen Trophäen, die ich in sehr guter Qualität bekommen habe. Außerdem sah ich viele weitere seltene und häufige Arten, einige davon wirklich hochwertige Trophäen.

Namibia ist ein wunderschönes Land, mindestens so fortschrittlich wie Südafrika, doch das Buschland ist noch fast unberührt. Es gibt sehr interessante Stämme, wie die „Obaimbas“.

Das „Camp“, in dem ich war, ist zweifellos das beste, das ich in Afrika gesehen habe – vergleichbar mit jedem europäischen Jagdhaus. Mein Führer war Steve Tors, ein sehr kenntnisreicher und freundlicher Mensch. Auch das übrige Personal war erstklassig.

Negativ war nur, dass ich den Fehler machte, über Südafrika nach Windhoek zu reisen, wodurch der Koffer meiner Frau einige Tage fehlte. Das nächste Mal werde ich über Frankfurt mit Air Namibia fliegen. Versäumen Sie nicht die Viktoriafälle – man muss entweder nach Livingstone in Sambia oder nach Victoria Falls in Simbabwe reisen. In beiden Städten gibt es hervorragende Spas direkt am Wasserfall.

Tavaly októberben Jannal vadásztam Namíbiában, néhány meglehetősen különleges trófeára, amelyeket nagyon jó minőségben szereztem meg. Emellett még sok mást is láttam, ritka és gyakori fajokat egyaránt, köztük néhány igazán jó minőségű trófeát.

Namíbia gyönyörű ország, legalább annyira fejlett, mint Dél-Afrika, ha nem fejlettebb, a bozót mégis szinte érintetlen. Néhány nagyon érdekes törzs is él itt, például az „obaimbák”.

A „tábor”, ahol megszálltam, kétségkívül a legjobb, ahol Afrikában valaha jártam – bármelyik európai vadászházzal felveszi a versenyt. A vadászvezetőm Steve Tors volt, rendkívül hozzáértő és kedves ember. De a személyzet minden más tagja is első osztályú.

Negatívumként annyit említenék, hogy azt a hibát követtem el, hogy Dél-Afrikán keresztül érkeztem Windhoekbe, és a feleségem csomagja néhány napig nem került elő. Legközelebb Frankfurton át, az Air Namibiával fogok utazni. Ne hagyja ki a Viktória-vízesést – ehhez a zambiai Livingstone-ba vagy a zimbabwei Victoria Falls városába kell menni. Mindkét településen kiváló wellness-szállodák találhatók a vízesés partján.

Ez volt az első szafarink, és reméljük, nem az utolsó. 2011 augusztusában tíznapos szafarin vettünk részt. Leírhatatlan, milyen fantasztikus volt – ezt átélni kell ahhoz, hogy megértse az ember. Minden tökéletes volt: a szállás, Jan és Annette, profi vadászunk, Rudi, és az egész személyzet. A vadászat kiemelkedő volt, minden, amiről csak álmodhat az ember, és még több. Feleségemmel együtt semmi mást nem választanánk, csakis a Jan Oelofse Hunting Safaris-t.

Dies war unsere erste Safari und wir hoffen, dass es nicht unsere letzte war. Wir hatten im August 2011 eine zehntägige Safari. Man kann kaum beschreiben, wie fantastisch es war, ohne selbst dort gewesen zu sein. Alles war perfekt – die Unterkunft, Jan und Annette, unser Berufsjäger Rudi und das gesamte Personal. Die Jagd war herausragend, alles, wovon man träumt, und noch mehr. Für uns kommt keine andere Safari als Jan Oelofse Hunting Safaris in Frage.

This was our first safari and hope it will not be our last. We had a ten day safari in August of 2011. One can not describe how fantastic it was without actually being there. Everything was perfect,The accomodations, Jan and Annette, our PH Rudi and the entire staff . The hunt was outstanding, everything you would dream about and more. My wife and I would not consider any other than Jan Oleofse Hunting Safaris.

Rudy nagyszerű volt Anna Claire-rel és — ami azt illeti — mindannyiunkkal. Ő a tökéletes profi. Simone szintén kiváló volt, és együtt Rudyval tökéletes párost alkotnak. Az étel, a szobák és minden más hibátlan volt, Brigitte pedig nap mint nap hosszú órákat dolgozik, hogy minden megfeleljen a magas elvárásainak.

Rudy was absolutely great with Anna Claire and all of us for that matter. He is the consummate professional.  Simone was excellent also and as a team he and Rudy are perfect. The food, rooms etc were all perfect and Brigitte works long hours each day to make sure it meets her high standards.

Rudy war absolut großartig mit Anna Claire und mit uns allen. Er ist der Inbegriff eines Profis. Auch Simone war ausgezeichnet, und zusammen sind Rudy und Simone ein perfektes Team. Essen, Zimmer usw. waren alle perfekt, und Brigitte arbeitet jeden Tag lange Stunden, um sicherzustellen, dass alles ihren hohen Standards entspricht.

Annette, tényleg próbáltam találni egy olyan pillanatot, amikor nem éreztem jól magam, de nem sikerült – hacsak nem a Windhoekbe vezető visszaút, amely hirtelen és kijózanítóan tudatosította bennem, hogy a móka nemsokára véget ér. De a képek és az emlékek mindazokról az emberekről, akikkel találkoztam, örökre bennem maradnak. Alig várom a napot, amikor visszatérhetek, és folytathatom a küldetésemet – talán egy leopárddal. Mahalo, még egyszer.

Annette I’ve really tried to find a point in time that i was not having a great time and really couldn’t, well except maybe the drive back to Windhoek which brought to me the sudden and sobering realization that the fun was about to end, but the pictures and memories of all of the people i came into contact with will stay imbedded with me forever. I look forward to the day that I return back and resume my quest, maybe a leopard. Mahalo again.

Annette, ich habe wirklich versucht, einen Moment zu finden, in dem ich keine großartige Zeit hatte – aber ich konnte keinen finden. Nun ja, vielleicht die Rückfahrt nach Windhoek, die mir die plötzliche und ernüchternde Erkenntnis brachte, dass der Spaß bald vorbei sein würde. Aber die Bilder und Erinnerungen an all die Menschen, denen ich begegnet bin, werden für immer bei mir bleiben. Ich freue mich auf den Tag, an dem ich zurückkehre und meine Jagd fortsetze – vielleicht auf einen Leoparden. Nochmals vielen Dank.
