Hartebeest are of the dorcas antelope family which also includes the Blesbuck and Tsesebe, they are red in colour and have a distinctive long head with crooked horns on top.
Preferring open savanna, you can find them on most of the open plains in the hunting areas.
Both sexes have horns, but the bull's horns are much heavier, averaging 22 inches.
